چکیده
Abstract INTRODUCTION: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is widely used to alleviate symptoms of movement disorders. During intraoperative the influence active or passive movements on neuronal activity often evaluated but evaluation remains mostly subjective. The objective this paper investigate potential a previously developed Weighted-frequency Fourier Linear combiner and Kalman filter-based recursive algorithm identify tremor phases types. METHODS: Ten accelerometer recordings from eight patients were acquired during DBS which 186 manually annotated into: rest, postural kinetic phase without tremor, with tremor. method first estimates instantaneous frequency then decomposes motion signal into voluntary tremorous parts. part quantify differentiate phases. RESULTS: Instantaneous amplitude are successfully tracked online. overall accuracy for only 89.1% 76.3% when also non-tremorous considered. Two main misclassification cases identified further discussed. CONCLUSION: results demonstrate as an online classifier. It would benefit more advanced detector nevertheless obtained digital biomarkers offer evidence-based analysis could optimize efficacy treatment.

"Asleep" deep brain stimulation for essential tremor.
OBJECT Deep brain stimulation (DBS) performed under general anesthesia ("asleep" DBS) has not been previously reported for essential tremor. This is in part due to the inability to visualize the target (the ventral intermediate nucleus [VIM]) on MRI. The authors evaluate the efficacy of this asleep technique in treating essential tremor by indirect VIM targeting. METHODS The authors retrospecti...
متن کاملThalamic Deep Brain Stimulation for Orthostatic Tremor
BACKGROUND Orthostatic tremor is an uncommon disorder manifest by high frequency, low amplitude leg tremor upon weight bearing. Treatment with oral tremor agents is inconsistent and usually not satisfactory. METHODS We implanted bilateral ventralis intermedius nuclei deep brain stimulators into an 82-year-old male with refractory orthostatic tremor. RESULTS The patient had a marked subjecti...
متن کاملDynamics of Parkinsonian tremor during deep brain stimulation.
The mechanism by which chronic, high frequency, electrical deep brain stimulation (HF-DBS) suppresses tremor in Parkinson's disease is unknown. Rest tremor in subjects with Parkinson's disease receiving HF-DBS was recorded continuously throughout switching the deep brain stimulator on (at an effective frequency) and off. These data suggest that the stimulation induces a qualitative change in th...
متن کاملDeep brain stimulation for tremor resulting from acquired brain injury.
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the efficacy of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in the treatment of tremor resulting from acquired brain injury (ABI). METHODS A series of eight consecutive patients with post-ABI tremor were treated with DBS of the ventro-oralis posterior (VOP)/zona incerta (ZI) region, and subsequently underwent blinded assessments using Bain's tremor severity scale. RESULTS VOP/ZI DBS...
متن کاملDeep Brain Stimulation for Movement Disorder Diseases
Movement Disorder Disease (MDD) is one general type of diseases that severely impair human motor ability and reduce the body controllability. Over millions of people in North America are suffering from these diseases and Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most typical and common among them. PD is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disease, affecting over 500,000 people in America a...
